The Brief
A year-round waterfront home near Lora Bay needing robust outdoor WiFi, full CCTV perimeter, and integrated audio across indoor and outdoor zones. The owners wanted reliable coverage from the road to the boathouse, with intrusion monitoring that survives lake-effect outages.
Scope
- Distributed audio video across living, primary suite, and outdoor decks
- Ajax wireless alarm with door, window, and motion coverage
- Exterior CCTV perimeter with verified-video review
- UniFi WiFi 6E mesh extending from main residence to boathouse and dock
- Outdoor speakers tuned for waterfront listening
The Approach
We surveyed the property end to end to map WiFi coverage from the front gate down to the dock. UniFi WiFi 6E access points went into weatherproof exterior enclosures along the path to the boathouse. The CCTV perimeter was designed around verified-video alerts. The system flags real events, not leaves and wildlife on this Bay Ridge–facing lot.
Indoor and outdoor audio video run on one platform. Shoreline-tuned outdoor speakers were placed for even coverage on the deck and at the dock. Ajax provides full intrusion monitoring with cellular backup. The property stays secure when lake-effect weather knocks out cable internet — common across Thornbury Harbour and the surrounding waterfront.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you cover a Thornbury waterfront lot with WiFi all the way to the dock?
We surveyed the property and mapped signal from the front gate to the boathouse. UniFi WiFi 6E access points went into weatherproof exterior enclosures along the run, with wired backhaul through low-voltage conduit. On a lakefront lot near Lora Bay, that wired path matters more than radio power. We added a dedicated outdoor mesh node at the dock so phones and cameras stay connected at the water. Coverage was tested with real devices, not just heatmaps, and tuned per zone.
Will the security system keep working during a Thornbury cable internet outage?
Yes. The Ajax Hub uses cellular backup, so arming, disarming, and alerts continue even when local cable or fibre fails. Lake-effect weather hits Thornbury Harbour and the Bay Ridge waterfront often, and we plan around it. The Ajax intrusion network is wireless to the sensors but uses a separate radio path back to the hub. We can also pair the system with a Starlink secondary WAN if the owner wants live camera streaming during longer regional outages.
What outdoor speakers handle wind and humidity on a Georgian Bay lakefront home?
We use Sonance and Coastal Source landscape speakers on properties near Thornbury, Lora Bay, and Cranberry Trail. Both lines are designed for full-time exterior installation and survive freeze-thaw cycles on the bay. Speakers are placed for even coverage rather than maximum volume at one point, which keeps audio natural on the deck and at the dock. Power runs are buried, with corrosion-resistant connectors. Owners get clean sound without the system shouting at the neighbours.
Can verified-video cameras tell the difference between people and wildlife?
Yes. We use Axis cameras with on-camera analytics tuned for human and vehicle classification. False alerts from deer, raccoons, and waving branches drop to near zero on a typical Thornbury waterfront lot. Verified events get pushed to the owner's phone with a short clip attached, so they can confirm before calling for response. The Ajax MotionCam sensors add photo verification on entry points, giving a second layer of confirmation indoors.
Do you service what you install on Thornbury and Lora Bay properties?
Yes. Summit Logic services every system we install across Thornbury, Lora Bay, Bay Ridge, and the surrounding waterfront. We offer remote support for most issues and on-site service for hardware. A service agreement covers firmware updates, periodic system health checks, and priority response. Owners of seasonal and year-round homes both use it. We stay on the brand families we deploy regularly, so parts and configuration knowledge are in-house, not outsourced.
