Cottage WiFi & Networking in Georgian Bay

Networks designed for cottages, waterfront homes, and seasonal properties. Coverage that extends to the dock, the boathouse, and the bunkie — engineered for unreliable rural internet.

    The Cottage Problem

Cottage internet is hard. The connection is often slow and unreliable. The properties are large, with multiple buildings. WiFi has to reach the main house, the bunkie, the boathouse, the dock, and sometimes the neighbour's place. Most cottage networks are an ISP modem with extenders — a recipe for failure. We design properly: real router, multiple access points, weatherproof outdoor coverage, and Starlink failover when the cable goes down.

    What We Install

    Multi-Building Coverage

Main house, bunkie, boathouse, dock — one cohesive network across the whole property, not islands of isolated WiFi.

    UniFi Outdoor Access Points

Weatherproof IP-rated APs for waterfront, exposed locations, and detached structures — built to survive Georgian Bay winters.

    Fibre Backbone

Direct-burial or aerial fibre between buildings — the right transport for reliable point-to-point links over long runs.

    Starlink Failover

Automatic switchover when primary internet drops — the network stays online during cable outages and storm events.

    What's Included

Site survey including all outbuildings — main house, bunkie, boathouse, garage, gatehouse, and dock

Coverage plan for indoor and outdoor zones based on the property layout and how the family actually uses it

Direct-burial or aerial fibre runs between buildings, terminated and tested at both ends

Outdoor APs at the dock, boathouse, garage, and gatehouse — IP-rated and properly mounted

Starlink integration as primary or backup WAN, configured for automatic failover

Remote monitoring — we know when your cottage internet is down before you do

Seasonal commissioning visit — system check before opening, shutdown before closing

    Common Cottage Setups

    Single-Building Cottage

4 indoor access points, 1 outdoor AP at the dock or deck, Starlink as backup to cable. The right setup for a typical Georgian Bay cottage.

    Multi-Building Property

Fibre backbone between buildings, 6-12 access points total, redundant internet with cable + Starlink failover. For estates with bunkie, boathouse, and guest house.

    Estate Property

Multiple gateways, full UniFi switch fabric, dedicated equipment rack, full structured cabling. For waterfront estates and large multi-building compounds.
