Commercial Camera & Access Control in Wasaga Beach

Unified Camera & Access Control for Commercial Security

    Project Overview

A commercial facility in Wasaga Beach — sited near the Beach Area corridor and within reach of the Wasaga Sands neighbourhood — needed a cohesive security system that combined access control and CCTV on one unified platform. Summit Logic installed a complete UniFi Protect system with a doorbell access unit, a single-point door reader, and multiple 360° cameras. The retrofit required new cabling through finished walls, completed cleanly without drywall replacement. The new system gives the client easy control over footage, user access, and remote door unlocking.

    Client Goals

    • Use one integrated system for cameras and access control
    • Improve CCTV coverage with 360° visibility
    • Enable remote unlocking for deliveries
    • Simplify user and permission management
    • Improve overall security operations

    Our Solution

We deployed a unified Unifi Protect security system including a doorbell access unit, a single-point reader, and 360° cameras for full coverage. Because this was a retrofit project, the team navigated finished walls and tight cavities to pull all required wiring without damaging the space. Once installed, the system provided the client with a single, easy-to-use interface to manage users, review footage, and unlock doors remotely for shipments.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why combine cameras and access control on a single Wasaga Beach platform?

Running both on UniFi Protect gives the client one app, one user database, and one set of permissions. Adding or removing a staff member updates camera access, door unlock rights, and notifications in one place. There is no second system to license or maintain. For a commercial facility near the Beach Area corridor and Wasaga Sands, that simplicity matters more than feature lists. The owner can manage the building from their phone without calling us for routine staff changes.

How do you run new cabling through finished commercial walls without damage?

We start with a building survey to map cavities, conduit pathways, and existing low-voltage runs. Most pulls go through suspended ceilings, service chases, and outside corners. When we open drywall, we cut to standard backbox dimensions so the patch is a clean drop-in for the painter. On this Wasaga Beach commercial retrofit, all camera and reader runs were completed without any wall replacement. The client kept the building open during install.

Can the system unlock the door for a delivery driver remotely?

Yes. The UniFi doorbell unit shows a live two-way audio and video call to the owner's phone. They can verify the driver, talk through the doorbell, and trigger the door reader to unlock from anywhere. Each remote unlock is logged with a timestamp and operator name. For a Wasaga Beach commercial facility that receives shipments outside business hours, this replaces the old practice of leaving doors unlocked for couriers.

Will UniFi Protect cameras work without internet?

Yes. Recording, motion detection, and access control all run locally on the UniFi appliance. The system continues to capture footage and grant credentials during an internet outage. Remote viewing pauses until the connection returns, but no events are missed. We can also pair the network with a secondary WAN if uptime is critical. For most Wasaga Beach commercial sites, the local-first design is the main reason we choose UniFi Protect over cloud-only alternatives.

Do you provide service contracts for commercial security systems in Wasaga Beach?

Yes. Summit Logic offers service agreements covering firmware updates, user-role audits, and hardware replacement. Most issues — adding a staff member, adjusting a camera angle, exporting footage — are handled remotely the same day. Hardware service is scheduled within standard business response. Annual reviews cover storage capacity, retention policies, and any new doors or cameras that have been added. We support the system as the business grows, not just at install.
