Questions to Ask Any Commercial Security Installer

Business owners raise the same complaints online again and again. Ask these before you sign for commercial security, including when you're talking to us.

Who owns the system and the admin login?

If the installer holds the only admin account, you can't add a user or pull footage without them. Switching companies gets hard too. Ask for owner-level access in your name.

What happens if we stop paying a subscription?

Some cloud-only camera systems lock you out when the licence isn't renewed. Ask if the cameras keep recording without it, and where the footage is stored.

How long is the monitoring contract, and does it renew on its own?

Many monitoring contracts run for years. Some renew on their own if you miss the notice date. Some alarm panels are locked to one provider. Read the renewal clause, and ask if the panel can move to another company.

How fast can we cut off a former employee?

With keys, a staff change can mean new locks. With cards or phone access, you just remove that person. That matters most when your staff changes every season.

Replacing Hikvision and Dahua Systems

We don't install Hikvision or Dahua cameras. If your business runs either brand, we can replace it.

We start with what's on site now. Then we plan the switch to Axis, Provision-ISR or UniFi Protect. If your old system came with no paperwork, your new one gets full drawings from day one.

Commercial Security Rules in Collingwood and The Blue Mountains

Alarm rules change at the town line. Most security pages skip this part.

In Collingwood, the Town's 2026 fee schedule has no security alarm registration. It has no police false alarm fee either.

In The Blue Mountains, the Town repealed its Security Alarm By-law on December 31, 2022. It stopped taking alarm registrations on January 1, 2023. If a false alarm brings the OPP, the Town bills it under its fees by-law. That by-law changes each year. Check the Town's security alarms page for the current rules.

Monitoring and Support After the Install

For monitored alarms, we work with Security Response Center, a Canadian monitoring station. You deal with us, not a call centre.

Our service plans add remote monitoring of the system itself. We watch for offline cameras, network drops and failed devices. Most issues get fixed without a truck roll. Service plans also cover qualifying systems installed by others.
