- Is there a monthly fee? Ask if you pay per door, per user or per site, and what stops working if you stop paying.
- Who holds the admin account? You should be able to add and remove people without calling anyone.
- Can it grow? A system for two doors today should be able to handle more later.

Magnetic Locks and the Ontario Building Code
Some doors use magnetic locks. Ontario's Building Code sets strict conditions for magnetic locks on exit doors. The building needs a fire alarm system. The lock must release when the fire alarm goes off and when the power fails. Some Ontario municipalities also ask for a signed declaration for these locks.
That means the lock and the fire alarm have to be planned together. Bring your fire alarm contractor in early.
