Why Footage Fails When You Need It
Most camera problems show up on the worst day. These are the common ones, and how a good design avoids them.
- The camera was aimed wrong. A wide view looks fine on screen but can't show a face at the door. Key spots need a camera placed close enough to identify people.
- The drive was full. Recorders write over the oldest footage when the drive fills. If storage is too small, the clip you need is already gone.
- The camera was offline. Nobody noticed for weeks. Remote monitoring catches this.
- Nobody could export it. The one person with the login left. Make sure more than one person in your business can pull footage.
How We Plan a Camera System
We plan coverage from your floor plan. Every camera gets a job before it gets a mount: what it needs to see, and how clearly.
Storage comes next. How long you can keep footage depends on the number of cameras, the picture quality and the size of the drives. We size the recorder to the number of days you want to keep, so your commercial security cameras don't run out of room.
Then we install the system, test every camera and hand over the drawings.

Business cameras in Canada fall under privacy law. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada has guidelines for businesses that record the public. Here's what they ask for:
- Post clear signs before people enter, with a contact for questions.
- Keep footage only as long as you need it, then delete it securely.
- Limit who can view recordings.
- Don't aim cameras at washrooms, change rooms or into windows.
- Don't record sound unless there's a specific need.
Build these into your camera plan from the start. It's easier than moving cameras later.
